Christmas Caroling: In mid-December 1986, Peggy McNamara suggested that a group of residents go out from 8 to 10 PM and sing Christmas carols for the neighbors. After the singing ended, they all returned to Peggy’s home for hot cider.
The next year, in December 1987, the group reassembled to carol again, but this time the temperatures were so freezing cold that they did not stay out very long, but they still had plenty of hot cider! After that, they never went out again!
The caroling was one enjoyable event that both served the community and brought neighbors closer together. Peggy was a wonderful person and a real cheerleader.
Before the Association was formed, at the time, there were only 30 units completed. We relied upon each other and became a close group of friends. We would have many parties at people’s homes or up at the pool. Since then, some have moved and some have passed on. The ones who were away for the winter would keep in touch to share news, and a phone chain insured that the word got around.
The community has changed with many newcomers since then. Gloria hopes that all neighbors can continue traditions establish by the original owners.

Shirley Simundza, Original Owner, Thistle Circle
As of 1980 the undeveloped property belonged to Doris and Warren Bolton (a lawyer who lives in Chatham - how and when they acquired it I don't know). He was responsible for naming the roads but I don't think he actually started building before selling the property to Edward Stone and Matteo Danello in December 1982. They started developing under name of Deb's Hill Condos on Warren Road, north side of Miriah Drive and 59-90 Deb's Hill Road. First sales were in 1983 ranging in price from $55,000 to $75,000 per unit. Compare that to recent sales around $300,000.
In May of 1985 Stone and Danello sold still to be completed property to Meleo Pechet of Deb's Yarmouthport Realty Trust. Mr. Pechet along with his sons Jeffrey and Donald completed construction in 1990. The swimming pool opened the summer of 1986, and the tennis courts were completed in 1987. Monthly fees were $90.00.In 1990 they were $150.
Through the efforts of former residents Bill Kummer and Thelma Covner the unit owners formed the Deb's Hill Condominium Association in 1986. First trustees were Charles Liberty, Ernest Duquet, Lynn Perry, Meleo and Jeffrey Pechet, managers until May 1, 1987 when CMA Management of Dennis headed by Scott Jordan was hired by the trustees. Chuck Liberty (CPL Management) was hired October 1989 and served until he retired December 31, 2000 at which time Vernon Striebel was hired. He was replaced by the present management company CCIPM (Paul Baron and Kerry McNamara)
Not sure of exactly when, I think 1988 or 1989, there was a voluntary contribution of $500 or $1,000 made by some residents, and it was paid back to them with interest. In 2002 there was a $600 special assessment, and this year the bank loan program amounts to $66.00 per month in addition to the regular condo fee of $227.

Thelma Covner, Original Owner, Miriah Drive
Thelma and Bud Covner, late of Miriah Drive came to Deb's Hill in March 1985. Thelma was active in many aspects of association life including the formation of the association itself.
She worked for the betterment of all of Deb's Hill residents serving as trustee, and editing the Deb's Hill Gazette news. Luckily she left us some photos to appreciate the earlier days of our community.

Gerry Petcoff, Original Owner, Miriah Drive
Meet Gerry Petcoff, one of the original owners on Miriah Drive. Gerry has always been active in condo matters, especially her leadership on the social committee. In April 2004 Gerry moved to Colorado to be close to family, and she returned to Yarmouth around 2007, no longer in Deb's Hill.
Gerry, thanks for the many photos.
